Sheriff Keybo Taylor was recognized for his contributions as a community leader during the Poplar Hill Baptist Church 2023 Christmas Gala on December 10th by Pastor Reverend Avery Headd and Pastor Reverend Dennis Washington. The evening embraced the essence of the holiday spirit and united the community.

Sheriff Keybo Taylor participated in a meet and greet hosted by Pastor Reverend Avery Headd on December 5th. The Q&A addressed accomplishments of the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office under his administration:

  • Initiative to consolidate and provide specialized medical resources to jail residents with chronic illnesses for intensive care and support.​​

  • Creation of a Mental Health Task Force to provide services in the jail facility and the community. The Task Force has undergone extensive training in mental illness awareness, clinical studies, de-escalation techniques, and intervention.

  • Implementation of robust security protocols and advanced technologies to increase security for employees and jail residents.

  • Dedicated Trafficking and Child Exploitation and Gang Task Force units to combat crime in Gwinnett County in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies.

  • Focus on promoting women in leadership within law enforcement to emphasize equal opportunities for career advancement and foster an inclusive workforce.

  • Emphasis on community outreach and building strong relationships with the public through mentorship, local events, volunteer service, and charitable giveaways.

  • Implementation of a new jailer career path for professional development with an entry age of 18 years or older, as well as approved pay raises for employees.

THANKSGIVING FOOD GIVEAWAY

The 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Food Giveaway served as a means to connect with the community, alleviate food insecurity, and contribute to a memorable Thanksgiving holiday. A total of 3,661 food boxes and proteins were distributed to families in need, with an additional 479 food items provided to local ministries and churches. This would not have been possible without the partners and sponsors who generously contributed to this cause, as well as the numerous volunteers from both the community and the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office.

ANTI-GANG & ANTI-BULLYING YOUTH FOOTBALL GAME

The 2nd Annual Sheriff's Cup Invitational Youth Football Game consisted of football programs from Gwinnett and metro Atlanta counties. Keeping our youth out of gangs and free from bullying will require collaborative work from all of us. Let’s continue to invest in the lives of the next generation.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL BASH

The 3rd Annual Back-to-School Bash was a successful event that provided another year of entertainment for children and recognized the role of teachers and administrators. Approximately 7,000 people attended, and the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office distributed over 6,000 backpacks and meals to help alleviate the burdens of preparing for the school year.
